Thank you for using Blackmart.
Why we're shutting down
Google is introducing Android Developer Verification — a new policy that requires every app installed on Android devices to come from a verified, registered developer. This takes effect starting September 2026 and rolls out globally through 2027.
- Every APK — including sideloaded ones — must be registered with a verified developer identity
- Installing unverified apps will require a multi-step process: developer options unlock, device restart, and a 24-hour wait
- Third-party stores like Blackmart, F-Droid, and others are directly impacted
- No API exists for stores to check verification status of apps they distribute
This effectively makes third-party app distribution impractical for most users. Rather than deliver a degraded experience, we chose to shut down gracefully.
Where to go from here
Built with care by a solo developer. Sometimes the best projects are the ones you know when to let go of.
